Ingredients:
For the cake:
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1/4 cup vegetable oil
- 1 egg
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup semisweet chocolate chips
For the ice cream:
- 2 cups heavy cream
- 1 cup whole milk
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
Instructions:
- Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease a 10-inch cast-iron skillet with butter.
- In a medium mixing bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- In a separate mixing bowl, whisk together milk, vegetable oil, egg, and vanilla extract.
- Add wet ingredients to dry ingredients and mix until just combined.
- Fold in chocolate chips.
- Pour batter into prepared skillet and smooth out the top with a spatula.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean.
- While cake is baking, prepare the ice cream. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together heavy cream, whole milk, sugar, and vanilla extract.
- Transfer mixture to an ice cream maker and churn according to manufacturer’s instructions.
- When cake is done, remove from oven and let cool for a few minutes.
- Serve cake warm with a scoop of homemade ice cream on top. Enjoy!
