Turkish Bread

Directions:

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, salt and yeast.
  2. Slowly add the warm water and olive oil, and mix until the dough comes together.
  3. Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for about 10 minutes, or until it becomes smooth and elastic.
  4. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until it has doubled in size.
  5. Preheat the oven to 425F (220C).
  6. Punch down the dough and shape it into a ball. Place the dough on a greased baking sheet.
  7. Make some incisions on the top of the dough with a sharp knife and sprinkle with sesame seeds if desired.
  8. Bake for about 20-25 minutes, or until the bread is golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped on the bottom.
  9. Remove from the oven and let it cool before slicing and serving.

Note: If you don’t have active dry yeast, you can use instant yeast. Just add it with the flour, sugar and salt.
