Pepper Bread Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 3 cups flour
  • 1/2 cup warm water
  • 1/2 cup warm milk
  • 1 package of active dry yeast
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 cup ground beef
  • 1 red bell pepper, diced
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 1/2 cup tomato sauce
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1 egg yolk, for brushing

Instructions:

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, yeast, sugar, and salt. Mix well.
  2. In a separate bowl, mix together the warm water, warm milk, egg, and vegetable oil.
  3. Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, and stir until a dough forms. Knead the dough for about 10 minutes, or until it is smooth and elastic.
  4. Cover the dough with a clean kitchen towel and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until it has doubled in size.
  5. While the dough is rising, heat a skillet over medium heat. Add the ground beef, red bell pepper, and onion to the skillet. Cook until the beef is browned and the vegetables are tender. Add the tomato sauce, salt, and pepper, and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes.
  6. Preheat the oven to 375F (190C).
  7. Once the dough has risen, divide it into 8 equal pieces. Roll each piece out into a large circle.
  8. Place about 2 tbsp of the beef mixture in the center of each dough circle.
  9. Bring the edges of the dough up and pinch them together to seal the filling inside.
  10. Place the pepper bread on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Brush the tops with beaten egg yolk.
  11. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the bread is golden brown.
  12. Let the bread cool slightly before serving.
