Chicken Philly Cheesesteak

Ingredients:

  • 1 pound boneless, skinless chicken breasts, thinly sliced
  • 1 green bell pepper, thinly sliced
  • 1 onion, thinly sliced
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 4 hoagie rolls
  • 4 slices provolone cheese
  • Optional toppings: mushrooms, jalapenos, banana peppers, or hot sauce

Instructions:

  1. Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add 1 tablespoon of olive oil to the skillet.
  2. Add the sliced chicken to the skillet and cook until no longer pink, about 5-7 minutes. Remove the chicken from the skillet and set aside.
  3. Add another tablespoon of olive oil to the skillet. Add the sliced onions and green peppers to the skillet and cook until they are tender, about 5-7 minutes.
  4. Return the cooked chicken to the skillet and stir to combine with the peppers and onions. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  5. Preheat the oven to 350°F.
  6. Cut the hoagie rolls in half lengthwise and place them on a baking sheet. Toast the rolls in the preheated oven for 3-5 minutes.
  7. Remove the rolls from the oven and divide the chicken and pepper mixture evenly between the rolls.
  8. Place a slice of provolone cheese on top of the chicken and peppers.
  9. Return the baking sheet to the oven and broil the sandwiches until the cheese is melted and bubbly, about 2-3 minutes.
  10. Remove the sandwiches from the oven and add any desired toppings, such as mushrooms, jalapenos, banana peppers, or hot sauce.
  11. Serve hot and enjoy your delicious Chicken Philly Cheesesteak!
